CHAIRMANS  MESSAGE   -  OCTOBER  2009

Hello Everyone

Hope you are all enjoying the new football season even if results are not going the way you would want them to.

I managed to pop down Thorne’s ground a couple of times so far this season to see what was happening there. There were a number of games going on each time and they were all being played in great spirit, with encouragement being given to the players without being over the top. It was nice to see and so if you were involved there then my congratulations to you all and keep it up.

We have had three reports of bad behavior and this will find its way to the County FA for them to deal with and I myself have had to speak to one manager regarding conduct. This behavior cannot and must not go unchallenged and can I remind you that we are a Respect League and that all spectators should be stood behind barriers and should not stand behind the goals.

I wonder if many parents actually know the amount of information that is circulated to clubs  with regard to various things. The Leagues Committee is looking for representation from the Kippax and Hemsworth Areas as we have nobody on the Committee from either.

However if you are not from either but wish to be involved then feel free to get in touch we welcome people with new ideas and thoughts.

I must apologize for the web site being behind date at the start of the season but we were all struggling to keep up with the influx of updates and information to input.

League Tables can be found on our web site with the up and coming fixtures. Managers Telephone numbers Secretaries, Rules, forms for result sheets are available for downloading.

We did not schedule any games for mid week at the start of the season due to the fact that so many place requests for cancellations. However we would have expected some clubs to have looked forward to bring in a game from the back end of the season, which never happened and many clubs struggled to register players by the set dates

County Cup games take priority over our League games. So what we ask is that you consider when making a request to postpone a game in holiday periods that the game postponement is justified and that it is not just because the top goal scorer is on holiday. We have looked at how we can cut down on postponements but have decided to leave it as it is with three cancellations and rely on your honesty and integrity

Looking at the accounts it would appear the attendance at meetings has not been particularly good and clubs are encouraged to have attendees at all General Meetings

Whilst fines for non attendance increases income the League believes the fines can be avoided with simple planning within the club structure and requests each club reviews its meeting attendance arrangements.

Apologies for the Web Site being down on Monday 26/10/09 the host company had not managed to submit their invoice due to postal strike and this was cleared up overnight by Brian with an email and service resumed as normal Tues morning.

Yours In Sport,  Robbie    ------- Chairman
